Ajay Devgan

Ajay Devgan, son of legendary veteran action choreographer Veeru Devgan, was born in Delhi, India. He was exposed to films at a very early age. After post graduation from Mithibhai College he took up direction of video films on his own story lines. His debut film was “Phool Aur Kante” (1992) in which the blazing intensity of his performance and the dare delivery of stunts were to become a hallmark for the Hindi film audience in the 90s.

Being the son of a fight master and fond of performing stunts, his earlier films were more of a violent nature. The trend in his career changed with two romantic comedies ‘Ishq’ (1997) and ‘Pyar To Hona Hi Thaa’ (1998). His brilliant performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ (1999) definitely was one of the main factors that contributed to the success of the film. After a couple of films like ‘Company’ (2002) and ‘The Legend of Bhagat Singh’ (2002), he proved himself as the right choice for both positive and negative roles.

His early list of sterling performances include films like ‘Zakhm’ (1998), ‘Lajja’ (2001), ‘Deewangee’ (2002) and ‘Bhoot’ (2003). In 2004 he did five films such as ‘Raincoat’, ‘Yuva’, ‘Masti’, ‘LOC Kargil’ and ‘Khakee’. His acting in Raincoat as the middle class desperate man was commendable. His next noted film was ‘Apaharan’ (2005) in which his transformation from a simpleton to a criminal was amongst the high points of his performance. In Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Omkara’ (2006) Ajay makes a stirring and powerful interpretation of a man troubled by doubt about his lover’s faithfulness.

In real life, he is known to be a quiet person who does not like to party much. Ajay, a car enthusiast, is also a good businessman as reflected by his successful venture into film production and distribution business. The man has a very humane side to him as well being the Brand Ambassador of ‘Round Table India‘, an organisation in pursuit of educating 1 million children. Ajay Devgan got married to actress Kajol on February 24, 1999 and a daughter Nysa was born to them in April 20th,2003.

Ajay has managed to do different characters with a flair characteristic to the man. One can undoubtedly say that he is an actor who supersedes himself with each film.

Ajay with his wife Kajol endorses Whirlpool and Tata Indicom. Macho Ajay has been chosen as the brand ambassador for Mc Dowell’s. Ajay Devgan continues to be one of the most dependable actors in Bollywood.
