Sonu Nigam

Sonu Nigam was three years old when he began to sing. He joined his father to sing Mohammad Rafi’s songs. He participated in many music competitions. When he was nineteen years old, he moved to Mumbai and did covers of Mohammed Rafi songs for the album ‘Rafi Ki Yaadein’.

He started his career as a playback singer with the movie Janum in 1990 which didn’t get released. He sang for Gulshan Kumar’s Aaja Meri Jaan and ‘Accha Sila Diya’ from Bewafa Sanam, which was received well and offers began pouring in. His song ‘Sandese Aate Hai’ in Border (1997) was a big hit.

At the same time, he began to host the music talent show Sa Re Ga Ma. He has also served as a judge on Indian Idol and Amul Star Voice of India. He anchored another show Kisme Kitna Hai Dum and a radio show Life Ki Dhun with Sonu Nigam.

He continued to pay tribute to Mohammed Rafi with the release of albums in his memory. Nigam has released pop albums and performed in concerts all around the world.

Sonu Nigam will be doing the playback singing for Blue and 3 Idiots.

Sonu Nigam acted in movies like Betaab (1983) as a child actor. Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani, Kaash Aap Hamare Hote and Love in Nepal are few of his other movies. In his next movie Ankhon Hi Ankhon Mein he is said to be playing a blind singer.

Filmfare Best Male Playback Award and National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer – Kal Ho Na Ho; MTV Immies for Best Pop Album ‘ Chand Ki Doli and Filmfare Best Singer Award (South) ‘ Ninindale from Milana are few of the awards that Sonu Nigam has won.
