Antara Mali was born on 11th May 1979. Antara Mali’s father is a famous commercial photographer. His name is Jagdish Mali. Her mother is a theatre actress. Her grandfather, Shantanu Mali, was a painter. Belonging to a family of artists, Antara had a natural flair for acting. It was not very difficult for Antara to get into films.
Antara Mali made her acting debut with the Telugu film PREM KATHA (1999). Her first Bollywood film was MAST (1999), where she played the role of Nisha. The film, directed by Ram Gopal Varma, was released in 1999. Also starring in the film were Urmila Matondkar, Aftab Shivdasani and Dalip Tahil. The film is a fantasy and musical romance. It shows how an ordinary boy falls in love and gets married to a film actress. His dream comes true. Thus the film shows elements of fantasy.

Her next film was KHILADI 420 (2000). It was released on 29th December 2000. The film was directed by Neeraj Vora. Her co-stars in the film were Akshay Kumar and Mahima Chaudhry. In the film, Ritu is the daughter of a rich industrialist. She gets married to Dev who works for her father. Later she realizes Dev’s connection with the underworld. She also realizes that Dev might have killed her dad.

Next she acted in COMPANY (2002). The film was an action and crime thriller. The director of this film is Ram Gopal Varma. His co-stars were Ajay Devgn, Mohanlal and Manisha Koirala. The film is a fiction which exposes Mumbai’s underworld.

Her next film was the famous MAIN MADHURI DIXIT BANNA CHAHTI HOON! (2003). The director of the film is Chandan Arora. Also starring in the film are Rajpal Yadav and Asif Basra. The film is about a talented girl residing in the village who makes it to the mainstream cinema with the support of her husband.

Her next film in line was GAYAB (2004) which is a fantasy film. The film was released on 16th July. The director of the film is Prawal Raman. Also starring in the film are Rasika Joshi Tusshar Kapoor, and Ikhlaq Khan. The protagonist is an honest and simple guy whose low self-esteem makes him unable to pursue any higher education. He is in love with a girl but cannot confess his love to her. When the girl gets married to someone else, he is deeply perturbed. Then one day he finds the means of becoming invisible. He decides to avenge his wrongdoers.

She has also directed and written the screenplay for MR YA MISS (2005).
