Shreyas Talpade

Shreyas Talpade, who was born in Mumbai, was always active in college theatre with buddy Vivek Oberoi. After doing theatre and cameos in movies for almost a decade, Shreyas was given his first big Bollywood break by director Nagesh Kukunoor, who auditioned Shreyas in three rounds for his ‘Iqbal‘. Shreyas was offered the character of a protagonist in the movie, a role for which he trained for weeks; the actor practiced bowling barefoot and would watch reruns of matches to pick up the nuances of Kapil Dev for the role.

Iqbal‘ became a superhit and so did Shreyas. Shreyas performance in ‘Iqbal’ inspired MF Hussain to create a painting series on the character. Cricketer Kapil Dev, who watched the movie, was quite impressed as Shreyas left the cricketer nostalgic as the actor’s performance reminded him of his struggling days.

Shreyas is happily married to Deepti, a clinical psychologist, who prefers to stay away from the glamour world. Shreyas also is great pals with Nagesh Kukunoor and even accepected a small role in his ‘Dor’ as the actor feels that the director always does justice to each and every character in his movie.

Shreyas also acted in another Subhash Ghai movie ‘Apna Sapna Money Money’. Shreyas is also acting in MF Hussain’s autobiographical film ‘The Making of the Painter’, besides the actor is will be seen playing the role of a doctor in Anant Mahadevan’s ‘Agar’.

Shreyas’s image is of a non-commercial actor, but this has not stopped this talented actor from bagging major mainstream roles.
